Bio Power

In 2007 REG formed REG BioPower to manage two subsidiary companies, Living Fuels and Living Power, as an investment into the Bio-power market.

Living Fuels is a waste cooking oil (WCO) collection and refining company that have many collection points within waste management sites across that UK. It also runs a free collection service for small businesses to address legislation that states all WCO needs to be recycled. This WCO is collected by Living Fuels and refined into a usable fuel for the purpose of generating Carbon Neutral Energy via Living Power generation sites.

Living Power is involved in constructing, commissioning and operating onsite Combined Heat and Power (CHP) and straight generation plant across many different industries. This is made possible with the development of Gensets that can be installed on site and fueled by the refined oil that is collected by Living Fuels and in some cases, the WCO that has been produced by the company can be collected and refined to supply the on site Genset.

How it Works

Following refinement to remove unwanted fatty acids and food remnants, WCO can be used as a fuel for power generation.

The end product reacts similarly to normal fuel when highly compressed inside a diesel engine.

Fuel can be collected in many forms, from small personal kitchen waste oil deliveries to larger community collection schemes and there are various different methods of refining WCO from filtration and chemical separation to heating or gravitational separation.

Renewable Energy Generation Ltd. uses a proprietary, six stage refinement process and uses commercially available diesel engines to generate electricity and heat from the resultant product. Initial tests indicate more power and lower emissions than other competitor's fuels.
